PSC Sets Hearing Schedule In AmerenUE Electric Rate Case

        JEFFERSON CITY - The Missouri Public Service Commission is scheduled to hold formal hearings in March in an electric rate case filed by AmerenUE. Hearings are scheduled for March 12-16, 2007 and March 19-23, 2007, in Room 310 of the Governor Office Building, 200 Madison Street, in Jefferson City.

        Applications to intervene and participate in this case must be filed no later than July 31, 2006, with the Secretary of the Missouri Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102-0360. Copies of that application should be sent to: James B. Lowery, Smith Lewis, LLP, 111 S. Ninth Street, Suite 200, P.O. Box 918, Columbia, Missouri 65201; Steven R. Sullivan, Sr. Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary, Ameren Services Company, P.O. Box 66149, St. Louis, Missouri 63166-6149; and the Office of the Public Counsel, P.O. Box 2230, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102-2230.

        The Office of the Public Counsel is a separate state agency which represents the general public in matters before the Commission. Individual citizens wishing to comment should contact either the Office of the Public Counsel (P.O. Box 2230, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102-2230, telephone 573-751-4857) or the Public Service Commission Staff (P.O. Box 360, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102, telephone 1-800-392-4211).The Commission will hold local public hearings to receive customer comment on the proposed rate increase. The dates, times and locations will be announced at a later date.

        All hearings in this case will be held in buildings that meet accessibility standards required by the Americans with Disabilities Act. If any person needs additional accommodations to participate in any hearing, please call the Missouri Public Service Commission's Hotline at 1-800-392-4211 (voice) or Relay Missouri at 711 before the hearing.

        On July 7, 2006, AmerenUE filed an electric rate case with the Public Service Commission seeking to increase electric revenues by approximately $360.7 million. According to AmerenUE, a typical residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity a month would see the electric bill rise from approximately $66 a month to $72 a month, excluding taxes, under the company's proposal.

        AmerenUE serves approximately 1.2 million electric customers in Missouri.
