St. Louis Chinese Language School

        The St. Louis Chinese Language School is in its 29th year serving greater St. Louis area. The School is open to the general public regardless of race, religion, gender and political background. The School uses standard pin-yin pronunciation system to aid student's ability to pronounce Chinese language correctly and teaches both traditional and simplified Chinese characters. It also offers English-teaching classes for those who have little or no prior Chinese language training as well as families with adopted children from China. The courses are designed to enhance students speaking and listening abilities. The textbook used are compiled by Ji-Nan University in Guang-Zhou, China.

        The School meets every Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m. between September and May. The curriculum includes two 50-minute period of language learning and one 50-minute period of Chinese culture enrichment classes. During the language learning periods, students are able to speak, read, listen and write Chinese language. During the enrichment period, students can choose the class to suit their personal interest. For example, there are Chinese folk dance classes, martial arts including Tai-ji, Chinese chess, Chinese sports, arts & crafts, and drawing. For adult students, the School offers Chinese speaking drill class to further improving the speaking ability.
