Chinese as 2nd Language for Tourists (Conversational Chinese for adults)
This course is highly practical for American tourists in China. Basic pronunciation is taught. It gets straight to the point in every situation, on the planes, at the airport, in the hotels, restaurants, shops, etc. To get students involved quickly in two-way communication, this course includes the typical conversation and essential vocabulary on each topic. A CD is accompanied to make it easier. Pictures are included in each lesson, which allows a more lively and flexible presentation of the essential sentences for each scene. The instructor will provide the learning materials. Students have the option to sit in one of the regular Chinese classes in the 1st and 2nd periods with the permission of the classroom teacher and the principle. All the students are encouraged to participate in the Chinese corner for free tutoring, conversation practice and discussion of Chinese culture and customs, which is available from 2:20 to 3:15 each Sunday in the hallway of the Modern Chinese School. All the students and families are invited to a picnic in October hosted by the Chinese School. All the students are encouraged to participate in a Pinyin Contest in November. The class will prepare a program for the school wide end-of-term performance. The instructor will organize an end of term dinner.

Chinese as 2nd Language for Adults (Beginners)
This is a course for beginners. It is an overall introduction to Mandarin Chinese language, culture and customs. Students will receive intensive training in pronunciation and intonation combined with essential expressions. The instructor will provide learning materials including CD. Students will also learn a popular Chinese folk song Mo Li Hua. Students have the option to sit in one of the regular Chinese classes in the 1st and 2nd periods with the permission of the classroom teacher and the principle.
