INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL
ELECTS DENNY COLEMAN AS VICE CHAIR

The Board of Directors of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) has elected Denny Coleman, president and CEO of the St. Louis County Economic Council (SLCEC) in St. Louis, MO, as Vice Chair of the Board. The election took place during IEDC's 2009 Annual Conference. Coleman will be elevated from the position of secretary/treasurer to serve a one-year term in his new role beginning in January 2010.

"It has been both an honor and a pleasure serving as secretary/treasurer of IEDC, the world's leading membership organization of economic development professionals," Coleman said. "I look forward with great anticipation to working with our Board to continue steering our members and partners through these difficult economic times and toward further successes."

In his 19-year tenure at the helm of SLCEC, Coleman has overseen a multitude of economic development initiatives that have earned St. Louis County national recognition for outstanding progress in the areas of community revitalization, business development and job creation. Prior to SLCEC, he was director of development for the City of St. Louis and managed the city's neighborhood, housing and economic development efforts. He also served as vice president for community development at Mercantile Bank (now U.S. Bank) when the bank's community development corporation received the National Fair Housing award and a Private Sector Initiatives award from the White House.

Coleman is currently an advisory board member for Saint Louis University's master's degree programs in urban planning and real estate development and the Institute for International Business.
