OCA-St. Louis established the Youth Leadership Award to recognize and reward two deserving Asian Pacific American High School junior or senior who demonstrate leadership and service within their school and community.
ESSAY TOPIC: In August 2014, Ferguson St. Louis became known to the world. What is your understanding of the events that unfolded between Michael Brown, the Ferguson police and Ferguson residents/business owners and the larger St. Louis population? How has Ferguson affected your view of St. Louis and views of being an Asian American?
AWARD: Two $1500 awards will be given at the OCA-St. Louis Chapter's Annual Fundraiser Gala, March 2015. Recipients are expected to contribute 10 hours of community service with OCA-St. Louis by March 2016.
ELIGIBILITY: Recipient must be a US citizen or permanent resident, a current high school junior or senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and a member of OCA.
SUBMISSIONS: The following submissions are required:
• Essay (1000 words max)
• Official High School Transcript
• 2 recommendation letters
• Application Form (download from www.OCA-STL.org)
• Resume
