The St. Louis chapter of OCA Asian Pacific American Advocates launched a historic nonpartisan effort to turnout Asian American voters across St. Louis city and county. The effort will reach 3200 Asian Americans that live in areas with pivotal races via direct mail and phone calls from volunteers. Asian American civic leaders are partnering with student leaders from Washington University and St. Louis University to inform Asian American voters about their polling sites and to urge them to cast a ballot in the 2014 elections.

Lucy Burns, a chapter leader and co-chair of the GOTV effort, stated "I feel lucky to give back by helping others turn out to vote. I was very grateful when I became a naturalized citizen and feel it is my honor and duty to help others participate in our democracy." Delia Shen, a Washington University student leader, said "We look forward to reaching out to our friends and family members to ensure that Asian Americans have a high voter turnout on Election Day. I’m voting because I care about improving our educational system and job creation, and want my community to come out to vote too."

The St. Louis effort is part of a national effort and partnership between OCA Asian Pacific American Advocates and APIAVOTE.
