The St. Louis Chinese American Community

St. Louis has one of the largest and fastest growing Asian communities in Missouri. It includes over 50,000 people of Chinese descent, and thousands more from Taiwan. The St. Louis Chinese community features over 800 restaurants, churches, grocery supermarkets, and businesses of all types.

For those interested in learning more about Chinese culture, the Confucius Institute at Webster University, St. Louis Modern Chinese School and St. Louis Chinese Language School are dedicated to promoting an understanding of the Chinese language, history, and culture. In Missouri, almost 20,000 people speak the Chinese language.

Many in the the St. Louis Asian community receive their news and information through the St. Louis Chinese American News, which was founded in 1990 to help the Chinese community stay connected to their heritage. The paper has expanded to include a website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WeChat, and the Chinese American Yellow Pages, plus the St. Louis Chinese New Year Special Edition.
