American Red Cross, Powder Valley Team Up For Blood Drive
Nature Center Also Hosts "What's Eatin' Ya?" Program

What's the buzz? If it's summer, chances are the insects circling you are blood- and tissue-eating critters such as mosquitoes and chiggers. Why not donate your blood to a more worthy cause?

On Friday, July 27, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the American Red Cross will host a blood drive at Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center, Kirkwood. Missouri Department of Conservation staff will lead activities for the children while their parents are donating blood. After donating, visitors can view the new exhibits at the nature center.

From 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., MDC will offer the free "What's Eatin' Ya?" program. Learn more about those creatures we love to hate - from mosquitoes to ticks and leeches - through games, crafts, Discovery Tables, hikes and much more!

Reservations are encouraged for the blood drive, starting July 13, but walk-ins are welcome as well. For more information about the blood drive or to make a donation appointment, call (314) 301-1500. No reservations are needed for the program.

To reach Powder Valley, take the Watson Road exit from I-44, then turn north onto Geyer Road. Travel about 200 yards to Cragwold Road; turn west and continue to entrance on the right.
