The St. Louis County Election Office has embarked on a major recruiting drive, 'At Work for Democracy,' to hire poll workers for the Aug. 5th primary and Nov. 4th presidential elections. In a recently released statement County Executive Charlie Dooley said: "It's a very important election year, and poll workers are essential to making the local election process happen successfully." Dick Bauer, representing the County Election Board, stresses the idea of getting paid for these two important days of community involvement. "The 2008 presidential election year promises to be one for the record books," Bauer said. "Working at the polls involves you in this historic year, while getting paid at the same time."
Poll workers are paid $130 for the day and for attending a pre-election training class. They must be registered voters in Missouri and declare a political party preference. Interested persons should call Bauer at 615-1804. |
