Washington University cancer researchers get $870,000
Two Washington University researchers, Emily Cheng and Ellen Langer, recently won a combined $870,000 in research grants from the American Cancer Society.
They join 15 other current grant recipients in the St. Louis area, bringing the society's total investment to more than $10.5 million in St. Louis.
Cheng said she is "committed to tackling the molecular mechanisms underlying cell death in hope that the knowledge derived from our research can be translated into targeted therapeutics that triggers cell death in cancer."
Langer said she is interested in understanding how endothelial cells and vessels form to discover how to prevent vessel growth toward tumors.
