Missouri Gaming Association invites Project 21 Scholarship submissions

        JEFFERSON CITY, MISSOURI - The Missouri Gaming Association, the statewide professional association of the Missouri casino industry, will award$7,000 in college scholarships -- two $1,500 scholarships and four $1,000scholarships -- through the 16th annual Project 21 Scholarship competition.

        The Project 21 Scholarship competition is open to all Missouri high school seniors planning to attend an institution of higher education in the United States within four years of graduation. A copy of the contest application and guidelines is available at www.missouricasinos.org.

        "Our goal is to educate youth that it is not permissible for anyone under the age of 21 to gamble in a Missouri casino, and to warn them about the dangers and consequences of underage gambling," said Mike Winter, executive director of the Missouri Gaming Association.

        Students are asked to create an essay, poster or video aimed at educating their peers about the illegality and dangers of underage gambling. The entries must be published or viewed at the students' high schools in January or February 2012 to help educate other students. The deadline for submitting a scholarship application is March 9, 2012. Winners will be announced by April 13, 2012, and scholarships will be awarded by May 11,2012.
