(St. Louis, MO): The St. Louis Regional Business Council (RBC) is pleased to announce its funding for the Asian American Chamber of Commerce in the amount of a $20,000 grant.
This is the second year for the RBC grant, bringing the total to a $40,000 contribution, in support of growing the umbrella organization to serve 50,000 people who comprise the Asian community in St. Louis.
While many of the different ethnicities have their own organizations, this new Chamber is dedicated to focusing on what everyone has in common and how to better interface with the community at large. Funds will support increasing participation of Asian Americans within the St. Louis business community, promote the economic development of Asian American-owned companies, and increase Asian business opportunities throughout the St. Louis. The grant will also help the Asian American Chamber with its outreach to young, multi-cultural professionals for talent development.
"We simply would not have had success in our first year without the RBC's support," says Alex Lee, co-founder and Chairman of the Asian American Chamber. "We were able to establish a 501(c)6, website and directory, host a breakfast seminar series, arrange a kick-off for 400 attendees, and host the first annual Asian Heritage Festival which drew a crowd of thousands. Our goal is to unite and work together, planning for programs that will benefit the broader St. Louis community."
"We are pleased to help launch the Asian American Chamber and support its continued growth in the region," states Kathy Osborn, Executive Director of the Regional Business Council. "We believe that infrastructure funding like this goes a long way and are committed to the success of multi-cultural professionals and businesses."
About the Asian American Chamber of Commerce (AACC): Founded in 2011, the umbrella group serves Asian American businesses in the Greater St. Louis region and includes all Asian American ethnicities. It promotes and supports locally-based Asian American businesses and professionals by providing its members with practical information and facilitating positive interactions between its members.
