St. Louis County launching startup competition April 3

|
The St. Louis County Economic Council will start accepting applications for its business plan competition starting April 3.
The Startup Challenge, previously called the St. Louis Regional Business Plan Competition, awards cash grants and professional services and one year of free office space in an incubator to three winners.
The first place winner will get $50,000 cash and 30 hours of in-kind professional services in accounting, legal and marking. The second place winner gets $30,000 cash and 25 hours of professional services, while the third place startup gets $20,000 cash and 20 hours of professional services.

The winners of the contest last year included medical device startups MediBeacon and Retectix, as well as iLer Brands, maker of an electronic scoreboard used for home basketball poles.
