The Fulton School at St. Albans varsity soccer team took home the MAC Conference Tournament Championship in emphatic style, winning two games on the day with a combined 10-5 scoreline. The #1 tournament seed Eagles first defeated Thomas Jefferson 4-3 in the 10:00AM game, on goals from junior captain Brendan Shine (2), junior Paul Hofstetter (1) and sophomore Alex Xue (1). A showdown between the #1 and #2 seeds saw the Eagles trailing 0-2 within 15 minutes to Eagle Ridge, but the team evened things up before halftime and went on to score 4 unanswered goals in a 6-2 win for their first tournament championship in school history. Junior Alec Loyd (3), Paul (2) and Brendan (1) scored in the championship, lifting the Eagles to 13-0.

Juniors Paul Hofstetter, Jack Rawlins and Brendan Shine were nominated to the 2013 MAC All-Conference Team. In addition, Brendan and Paul received maximum points, voted by MAC coaches, to share the Player of the Year award.

The Fulton School is a small, independent preschool through 12th grade school preparing students for higher education and a lifetime of learning. Using a Montessori-based, multi-aged, personalized approach gives each student the space to learn without limits and to be curious without caution. The students benefit from the small class size and 8:1 student-teacher ratio. Fulton has a diverse community with differences in race, ethnic and religious heritage, socio-economic background, aptitude, personality, talent and learning style.
