You read that right. Hire a U City High School student for 18 hours a week and only pay half the cost of his or her wages! The city government and the school district have agreed to pay half the hourly rate for 35 high school students who are hired by U City businesses for 18 hours a week for eight weeks this summer. These students will also attend a job support class to help reinforce job skills. The high school staff will make visits to ensure that this program is running smoothly.
- Businesses will be reimbursed for hiring students for 18 hours of work per week for eight (8) weeks from June 6 through July 29, not to exceed 144 hours’ worth of reimbursement.
- Work hours can be flexible, and businesses may choose to hire the student for more hours or to extend the student’s employment beyond the program, but only 144 hours of work are eligible for reimbursement.
